Quashnick
Tool Corporation was
founded by Journeyman Tool Maker Terry Quashnick and his wife Jeanette
in 1973. The first eleven years in business they specialized in the
construction of injection molds. In 1984 they added injection molding
to the business.
After 27
years of operation, QTC is now a custom manufacturer with two divisions
and has amassed a team of versatile and experienced employees to meet
any customer's injection molding needs. QTC's customer base consists
of biomedical, telecommunications, electronics and automotive industries.
The tooling
division specializes in the construction of injection molds and has
built a reputation for producing complex tooling. Technology is an
important component at QTC and the company continues to invest in
the latest machinery and equipment to make it more competitive in
its markets. Incorporated in the tooling division is one of the most
advanced computer aided mold design facilities in Northern California,
which utilizes the latest versions of Pro/Engineer, AutoCAD, SolidWorks
and SURFCAM.
The molding
facility operates eleven state of the art injection molding presses
ranging from 35 to 230 tons. It has the experience and capability
to mold a wide variety of resins. QTC's niche is having skilled personnel
to run the sophisticated molds with complex mechanical actions, which
make tight tolerance plastic parts.
QTC continually
strives to develop a total team concept by maintaining open communications
between mold design, mold construction and plastic molding personnel,
to communicate with customer's product design and purchasing personnel.
Terry Quashnick,
both a Journeyman Machinist and Journeyman Tool Maker for the past
35 years, works
closely with the company's customers to problem solve and construct
molds to produce plastic parts initially believed to be impossible.
Education and training in the plastics field are extremely important
to Terry. During QTC's 27 years of operation, it has trained 16 mold
makers through a formal four year state certified apprenticeship program,
with its most recent apprentice achieving Journeyman status on January
1, 2000, and has another apprentice currently in training.
Terry
was inducted into the Society of Plastics Engineers Northern California
Golden Gate Section Hall of Fame in October 1998. He joins only twelve
other professionals inducted into the Hall of Fame since 1986. In
1999 Quashnick Tool Corporation Received the Industry of the Year
award by the Lodi, California chamber of Commerce. Terry is active
in the Lodi Chamber Industrial Group, and with the local school district
encouraging training in the trades at High School and College levels.
